With Teacher Appreciation Week coming up May 4-8 here's a school themed project.
The end of the school year usually also brings end of year picnics and field days which require a big dose of school spirit. So to be true to your school, let's make School Spirit Pennants!
Folk Art multi purpose paint
Foam sheets and letters
Cut felt triangles to your desired pennant size. The pennant in the photo is 5" high by 11" long
Trace your school mascot or logo onto a foam sheet, cut out and glue in reverse onto a piece of cardboard.
Arrange team name in reverse onto cardboard. It you're using adhesive back foam letters, remove the adhesive with Goo Gone. Glue down the letters.
Paint foam stamps with Folk Art multi purpose paint in one of your school colors. Be sure the paint is applied evenly over the foam then stamp it down onto the felt pennant one stamp at a time.
Add felt strips to the edge of the pennant in a contrasting color of felt.
Sew a pocket on the back of the pennant to insert a dowel.
Want to Improvise?
Reduce the size of your pennant to 2" high by 2.5" long to make a pencil pennant. This will spread school spirit in the classroom.
