There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Teachers, we are almost there! Just a few short weeks and summer will be upon us. After about 180 days of teaching, coaching, mentoring, guiding, etc., summer is such an important time to step away from the classroom and recharge our batteries. Do you have some wonderful adventures planned? If so, good for you! If not, it is not too late to plan some last-minute trips and save money in the process. Below is a list of several discounts offered to teachers for travel not just in summer, but all year long. I’ve started with the larger resource sites and narrowed to the individual locations that offer discounts or even free admission. See, you guys, people do care about the hard work we do and want to recognize us for it. Here at PamperedTeacher, we hope you take advantage of that this summer. You deserve it!

If sailing the open seas if your thing, book a cruise with Vacations to go and save money! Cruise lines will regularly offer deals for teachers, and this site easily compiles these discounts. You can book ahead of time or last-minute.
DISCOUNT #4 - Hotels
Several major hotel chains offer teacher discounts. To book a Hilton-brand hotel with a government rate, click here to access Hilton’s website and select “Gov/Military rates” under the advanced search option. Red Roof Inn also offers discounts to National Education Association (NEA) members and Caesars Entertainment group offers teacher and student discounted rates at hotels all over the world.
DISCOUNT #5 - Always Free Admission (can’t beat that!)
Speaking of the NEA, they have compiled a list linked here of free museums, monuments, parks and sights all over the country. Some highlights? How about touring the Denver U.S. Mint or Hoover Dam or riding the Staten Island Ferry? These are just 3 of the free activities listed on this site.
DISCOUNT #6 - Zoos & Aquariums
Take a walk on the wild side! Zoos and aquariums all over the country offer teacher’s free or discounted admission including Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Philadelphia Zoo, and the New England Aquarium. Take me out to the ballgame! Several MLB teams such as the Cinncinati Reds and Tampa Bay Rays offer discounted tickets to teachers. Check with your local major league or minor league teams before heading to the ballfield.
DISCOUNT #8 - National Parks
While teachers don’t get discounted admission to national parks, we do get 15% off in most of their gift shops, and who doesn’t like a little discounted shopping? Also, if you are a 4th grade teacher or have a 4th grader at home, you need to know that all 4th graders in the country receive FREE ADMISSION for the year for themselves and family members to any national park! What!? It’s called the Every Kid in a Park program. I just found out about this program myself, and my 4th grader will now be taking our family to several parks this summer!

The most magical place on earth is even a little more magical for teachers who can get discounts at both Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels and Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin. Teachers from around the country also get free entry to Crayola Experience Orlando.
